Total three
Concept:
Description:
Players take turns to roll the two dice. Do calculations in addition, subtraction and multiplication each time they roll.
Purpose
- Practice addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
Materials
- Scrap paper
- Pencils
- 2 dices per pair
How to play:
Take turns to roll the two dice. Do the following calculations each time you roll:
- Add the two numbers shown on the dice
- Find the difference between the two numbers
- Multiply the two numbers OR skip count (Grade 1)
- Add the three numbers to get a score for that round
After 10 rounds the player with the highest total is the winner.
Variations:
- To make the activity more challenging use 8, 10, 12 or 20-sided dice
For example:
Roll 6 and 3
6 + 3 = 9
6 – 3 = 3
6 x 3 = 18 OR
6, 12, 18 (3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18)
Score is:
9 + 3 + 18 = 30
