Array hooray!
Concept:
Description:
Learners match multiplication fact to an array.
Purpose
Practice multiplication using arrays. In this exercise, an array is a visual representation of a fact. For example an array could be 2 lines of 4 blocks and this would represent the multiplication fact of 2 × 4. The exercise if for learners to match the facts with the arrays – or images – that represent them.
Materials
- Print out this Array Hooray Multiplication sheet
- Pencils
How to play:
- Choose a multiplication fact. For example 2×2
- Ask learners to match the fact to the array. In this case they would look for 2 lines of 2 blocks
- Now ask learners to give the result of the fact – how many blocks there are altogether in each array. In this case. 2×2=4. So 4 is the result.
