Materials Needed:
Cards or DIY Cards
Players:
2 or more

Players use a pack of cards to practice subtraction. In pairs players deal out four cards each. Uses all four cards to make two digit numbers that have the biggest difference possible.

Purpose

  1.  Practice subtraction

How to play:

  1. Shuffle the cards, and deal 4 cards to each pair.
  2. Each pair must use all four of their cards to create two 2- digit numbers. The aim is to create two numbers that have the biggest possible difference when you subtract one of them from the other. (For example, a player  may choose to use the cards 7, 8, 3, and 5, creating the sum  78 – 35 = 43).
  3. After pairs have chosen their cards, they place them face up in front of them, arranging them so the other pair can see which two numbers they have created and must calculate what the difference between their two numbers.
  4. The pair with the largest difference wins.
  5. Play continues for 5 rounds. The pair with the most points after the last round wins the game.
