Pick up six (×)

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Description:
Game
Phase:
Intermediate Phase (Gr 4-6) & up
Number Range:
Goes beyond 20
Materials Needed:
Counters (e.g. bottle tops) | Dice or DIY Dice
Players:
2 or more

Learners practice multiplication by placing counters on the board.

Materials

  •  2 Dice
  • 12 Counters

How to play

  1. Two players – each has 6 beans/counters of different colours.
  2. Each player places their 6 beans on any squares on the board.
  3. Take turns to place them on the board.
  4. You may not place them on the same square as another player.
  5. Think VERY carefully about where you put your beans – there are some squares that are really bad choices!
  6. Roll two dice – multiply them together to get the answer. If the answer is a
square on which you or your partner have a bean you can take that bean
    off the board.
  7. The first person to remove all their beans from the board wins.
